Overview
We are inviting food and drink producers who operate within a 25 mile radius of Burnham on Sea
This local area includes Bristol to the north, Wellington to the south, Minehead to the west and Shepton Mallet to the east. This aims to minimise food miles, provide a local route to market and to present Burnham on Sea as a centre for Somerset Levels food and drink.
The food festival is split into four sections:
Exhibitors
Demonstrators
Side Orders - Local traders and local restaurants and cafes
and Competitions!
Exhibitors
We are looking for food and drink producers, manufacturers, farm shops and stores from within 25 miles of Burnham on Sea to set up stall for the day and show what great drink and drink is available across Somerset.
Get creative with your stall or keep it simple, it's up to you. We want you to be able to introduce visitors to your great products and generate new business for you.
We have trestle table stalls, chairs and power available.
Stalls will be hosted in the Baptist Hall (no alcohol tastings or traders) and The Princess Theatre. We also have outdoor trading spots available too.
We have Limited car parking spaces available near both venues on a first come first reserved basis.
Demonstrators, Taster Sessions & Workshops
We have two great venues available for pre-booked workshops and the fantastic new KDS Interiors Fresh Ideas Stage.
We are inviting local bakers, butchers, fishmongers, brewers and restaurants to pitch to hold workshops for pre-booked participants. We envisage sessions like fish filleting, three family meals from a chicken, preparing a rolled joint, chef cheats and explanation sessions covering brewing techniques etc. Full kitchen facilities are available for demonstrators.
Adjacent to the Baptist Hall we will have a fully equipped KDS Interiors Fresh Ideas Stage. We are inviting local chefs to host engaging and tasty 30 minute demonstrations.
Side Orders
Although the Festival has two central locations, the real heart of the Festival is Burnham’s own traders, restaurants and regulars. We want Festival visitors to explore beyond the Festival and allow you to showcase your business. Side Orders are the creative fringe of the Festival. A Side Order can be a special menu, an in-store tasting or presentation, a price promotion or a tie-in with a supplier you work with (or want to work with more). Don’t feel constrained to Saturday 29th between 10 and 5pm – fit it to your business and be creative!
We want to encourage the food-related retailers in the town centre to publicise the local products they sell.
We hope that local traders take the opportunity to take part in the demonstration slots in the Baptist Hall.
Passing on their skills & knowledge can persuade shoppers that by buying from the High St they get a value added service over the supermarkets.
